Fleet Services
Fleet is a valuable in-house support function that covers the entire lifecycle of all Department vehicles, from planning and ordering to vehicle disposal. This includes selection, procurement, build-up, maintenance, repair, and remarketing of the Department’s fleet and equipment assets. Modern-day fleet management means excellence in many core business areas ranging from asset management, maintenance, finance, procurement, fuel management, occupational safety and health administration, and environmental protection agency regulations, to staffing models and professional development.
Fleet’s goal is to ensure troopers and professional staff have safe, reliable, and functional vehicles allowing them to focus on accomplishing the Department’s mission every day. Fleet is led by a fleet administrator and four fleet supervisors.
In fiscal year 2023, fleet build-up and issued 357 new vehicles into the field, setting an all-time record. With automotive/motorcycle technicians in Phoenix, Flagstaff, and Tucson, Fleet Services completed 5,946 work orders for repairs or maintenance on Department vehicles. Personnel also processed another 8,400 commercial work orders. In addition, Fleet decommissioned 194 vehicles that had met the end of their useful life at the Department and sent them to surplus.
