New Security Enhanced DPS Credentials
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) is updating their regulatory credentials with a new design that features iconic images representing Arizona. The front of the card will have the saguaro cactus and roadrunner, and the back of the card will showcase the Ponderosa pines and an elk head, highlighting the diversity of the state's terrain and wildlife. This new design aims to provide a visually appealing credential and foster a sense of pride and connection among Arizona residents.
The following credentials will begin to be issued with the new design at the end of July 2024:
- Fingerprint Clearance Cards (all types – Level One, Regular, and IVP)
- Concealed Weapons and LEOSA Permits
- Security Guard and Private Investigator card credentials (Unarmed Guard, Armed Guard, Security Guard Qualifying Party, Security Guard Resident Manager, Security Guard Associate, Security Guard Instructor, Security Guard Firearms Safety Training Instructor, Private Investigator Employee, Private Investigator Qualifying Party, Private Investigator Associate)
The transition to the new cards will begin on July 25, 2024. Due to the transition, in-person reprints and pick-up will no longer be available at the DPS Public Services Center lobby after July 24. Applicants may still drop off documents and make payments in-person at the PSC lobby, but all new cards will be mailed.
It's important to note that the current versions of the cards will remain valid until their expiration dates, so there is no immediate need to replace them with the new design.
